Fossils
We have a selection of fossils from around
the world. Many of them are from Morocco. They are exported under licence,
which is overseen by their Museum.
Our fossils are worked in several ways.
There are good examples of pieces for collectors. Some make fine sculptures
for the house.
Ammonoids
We have several Ammonoids. The most well
known are the Ammonites, predominantly from the Jurassic period, about
180 million years ago. We often have Goniatites, another type of Ammonoid,
such as the ones shown here. These are usually of the Devonian Period,
about 380 million years ago.
Orthoceros
are often mistaken for Belemnites. However notice in these pictures
the patterns running down some of them. These show that it had a segmented
shell in the fashion of a straight Ammonoid.

Available
mail order we have double orthoceros. These are about 3 to 5 inches
across. The fossil is polished so that you can see the detail and the
rock matrix is left rough. They are from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco,
North Africa. The fossil is of a long shell which would have had tentacles
and looked like a squid that swam about the seas approximately 380 million
years ago.
Ammonites
These
ammonites are from Whitby on the Yorkshire coast in England. They are
about 180 million years old from the Jurassic period. Each specimen
comes in two halves. A stone has been split in two. The positive half
is the fossilised shell the negative half is the imprint it has left.
Ours range from about 5.5cm (2") to about 8.5cm (3"). The
larger ones do not split as well. so they are all priced the same.
Sorry none in stock right now.
These
are Ammonites from the Cretaceous Period (about 100 million years ago).
They were found in Madagascar and are polished. Polishing helps reduce
further wearing and brings out the detail. They are about 2.5 to 3 inches
across.
None in stock.
This is a particularly nice example of a Madagascan Ammonite.

Fossil Fish
This is a Cladocyclus.

It weighs in at about 6.5kg (14 lb) and is about 69cm (27 inches) long.
It was found in Brazil in the Cerra Province and as about 110 million
years old (Cretaceous).
Dinosaur Footprints
Here are some footprints from Utah, USA. Little dinosaurs ran about
leaving these prints in the Cretaceous period (about 100 mill. years
ago).
Shown here next to a 12 inch ruler.

Iguanodon Tail Vertebrae
Yes, this is part of a true UK dinosaur. It is a piece of backbone
about 6.5 inches high (16cm) over 5 inches (13cm) wide and nearly 4
inches (10cm) thick .
It
is from Bexhill-on-Sea, near Hastings, Sussex, UK. There is was found
in The Wealden Clays, The Wealden Strata, The Hastings Beds. This puts
it in the Lower Cretaceous Period (About 130 Mill. years ago.)
Fossil Vertebrae
These
are the vertebrae from the spine of a large sea animal such as an Ichthyosaur
or Plesiosaur. These ones were found in Dorset. They were from the Upper
Jurassic period. Each is about 7cm (3 inches) across
We
have several Trilobites. Here are a Paralejurus and a Treveropyge. Calymene
are very popular. While they are more fragile, they are more easily
found and prepared, bringing their cost down.

Pre-Cambrian era putting it at about 2 thousand million years old.
Fossil Teeth
Here
are some of our Spinosaurus teeth. We do hold dinosaur teeth and fossilised
sharks teeth. Spinosaurus Teeth vary in quality from some with restoration

Mosasaurs were fish-like with lizard-like long tales and
were up to 3 meters long. They lived in the Cretaceous period about
90 million years ago. These Mosasaur teeth were found in a phosphate
quarry in Morocco and are fossilised into phosphate.
These are a selection from the fossils that we have. Our stock varies
and often we have new pieces. Call in for a look.
